在患難中的安全感 Security in Times of Trouble

在患難中的安全感 Security in Times of Trouble

We search for security in wealth, work, relationships, and power, yet all of these change with time and cannot keep us safe. This Sunday, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung urges us to find rest in our unchanging God, our true refuge and strength.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

  • When you feel anxious or overwhelmed, what usually helps you feel safe or at peace? Why does that help you?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Read the psalm. What does each of the three voices communicate about finding security in God?
  • Psalm 91 speaks of God’s protection amid disasters, calamities, and dangers. How should we understand God’s complete protection alongside the reality that faithful believers still experience suffering and harm?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

  • Do you relate to God primarily by knowing facts about Him or by cultivating a personal relationship with Him? What has your time and attention recently revealed about your relationship with Him?
  • Examine and identify your motives: Do you love God for who He is, or do you sometimes love Him mainly for what He can provide or protect you from?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

  • How can you deepen and demonstrate trust in God’s character and promises while still taking wise, responsible steps to face the challenges in front of you?
  • Who in your Life Group or circle of relationships is currently going through a difficult season? How can you help that person find comfort and security in God?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Praise our Almighty God for being our refuge, fortress, and faithful protector in times of trouble. Thank Him for His constant presence, His gracious promises, and the assurance that we can call upon Him and trust in His goodness even when we face uncertainty, danger, and suffering. Rejoice that our ultimate security is found in knowing Him and dwelling in His presence.
  • Repent for the times you have relied on your own strength, worldly security, or other people more than you have depended on God. Ask for forgiveness for doubting His goodness when circumstances become difficult, and pray that you may grow in your love for Him, know Him more intimately, and seek Him wholeheartedly in every season.
