Safe and Sound

Safe and Sound

Trouble will inevitably find us, but God keeps us safe through it. This Sunday, Ptr. Renz Raquion draws from Psalm 91 to show we can be secure even in chaos because God is our shelter, our shield, and our salvation.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

  • Looking back on 2026, share a situation that seemed difficult at the time but that you now see differently. What made you change your perspective?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Read the psalm. Psalm 91 describes God as our shelter, shield, and salvation. What does each image teach you about God’s character and how He cares for His people?
  • The psalm speaks confidently of God’s protection, yet faithful believers still experience suffering, loss, and even death. How does today’s message help you understand what it means to be protected by God?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

  • Looking back on 2026, where can you recognize God’s protection, provision, or presence, even in situations that did not turn out the way you hoped?
  • What is the thing or person you have been loving, depending on, or holding onto more than God? What makes it difficult to surrender that to Him?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

  • What specific habit can you establish or strengthen to help you dwell in God’s presence daily, even when life is going well?
  • Who in your family, Life Group, or circle of friends is going through a storm right now? How can you help that person experience God’s comfort and presence through your words, prayers, or actions?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Praise our Almighty God for being our refuge, fortress, and faithful protector through every storm. Thank Him for His presence in our troubles, for the ways He has sustained and carried us throughout 2026, and for the assurance of salvation through Jesus Christ, who bore the storm of sin for us. Rejoice that our security is not dependent on our circumstances but on Christ, and that we can face 2027 with confidence because God will remain with us whatever comes.
  • Repent for the times you have turned to worry, control, money, approval, or distractions instead of seeking God as your refuge. Ask for forgiveness for doubting His goodness when He allows you to go through difficulties or when His deliverance does not come in the way you expect. Pray that you may love God above all else, cultivate a deeper daily relationship with Him, and trust His presence and purposes even when you cannot see the whole road ahead.
