God Can Restore Our Broken Relationships?

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share a recent conflict you experienced. How did you handle the situation and how did it impact your relationship with the other person?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the chapter. What does Jacob’s experience teach us about persistence in prayer?
– Identify how society teaches us to resolve conflicts and reconcile with people. Is it consistent with the Bible? Why or why not?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– Evaluate yourself: Do you approach difficult relationships or conflicts with a prayerful and surrendered heart? What encourages and hinders you from doing so?
– Reflect on any unresolved conflicts in your life. Write down and share how your past actions affected those relationships.
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– How is God probing you to address and/or reconcile with those unresolved conflicts that you’ve identified? Write down specific action steps you can take to show your desire for reconciliation. This could be as simple as offering a sincere apology, expressing gratitude, or planning a time to talk and listen to each other’s perspectives. Then, write a heartfelt note or prepare for a conversation where you can express your remorse and willingness to make amends.
– Commit to praying daily for a specific relationship or conflict. What will you ask God to help you with as you seek healing?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise the Lord for being the God of reconciliation, who draws us back to Himself and makes peace possible in our relationships. Thank Him for His grace that softens hearts, His guidance that leads us to healing, and His faithfulness that transforms us through humility and prayer. Rejoice that He never leaves us alone in our struggles and that His love empowers us to pursue genuine restoration.
– Repent for the times you have allowed pride, anger, or fear to prevent you from seeking reconciliation in your relationships. Ask for forgiveness for relying on your own strength rather than bringing your conflicts to God in prayer. Pray that you would surrender your heart to Him, allowing His will to guide you toward humility, healing, and peace.
