In Jewish culture, “Shema” is the declaration of faith for Jewish families. On this Family Sunday, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung invites us to intentionally create a spiritual atmosphere at home—living out our faith and setting an example for our family members through our actions and behaviors in daily life.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Can you share a moment when a family member’s words or actions helped shape your faith or character?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. What does it mean to love God with all your heart, soul, and strength? How is this different from simply feeling love for God?
• Why is it crucial for families to be intentional in teaching the next generation about God? What are the dangers of neglecting this responsibility?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• Be honest: In what ways have you been influenced more by the world’s values than by God’s truth?
• What challenges or fears do you face when it comes to spiritually conversing or leading/discipling your family?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• How well are you modeling a love for God in your family relationships? Would your family members say they see your love for God in your actions? Why or why not? How can you model godly love and obedience starting this week?
• How can you create intentional and organic moments to share and teach biblical truths within your family?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise the Heavenly Father for being our one true God who remains faithful through generations. Thank Him for giving us families as a place to grow in faith and for entrusting us with the responsibility of passing down His truth. Rejoice in His Word that guides us in love and obedience, shaping our hearts and the hearts of those who come after us.
• Repent for the times you have neglected the responsibility of teaching and modeling God’s truth within your family. Ask for forgiveness for allowing the world’s influences to shape your priorities more than God’s Word. Pray that you may turn your heart fully to Him, loving Him with all your heart, soul, and strength, so that the next generation may see and follow His ways.
