1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Share a time when you found yourself grumbling about your circumstances. How did that affect your posture in life and relationship with God?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. What are the main points of this section of the book and how do these address the problems in the Corinthian church?
• Why did Paul cite Jewish history/Old Testament stories?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• Have you ever tested God by knowingly doing something wrong? How did that experience affect your faith?
• How does knowing that God is faithful and provides a way out of trials encourage you in your current struggles?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• What practical steps can you take this week to identify and remove any idols in your life?
• How can you cultivate a habit of gratitude and avoid grumbling in your daily life?
• In what specific ways can you be more vigilant and prayerful to avoid falling into temptation and sexual immorality?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise God for His unending faithfulness and provision in your life. Thank Him for always providing a way out of trials and temptations, and for refining you through difficult times to become more pleasing to Him. Acknowledge His sovereignty and goodness in all circumstances.
• Seek forgiveness for any idols you have placed above God in your heart, whether it be money, power, a relationship, or any other pursuit. Repent for any instances where you have tested God by knowingly doing wrong or grumbling against His plans for you. Ask for His grace to realign your heart with His will and to trust in His perfect plan for your life.
