Fools for Christ
Success for a Christian is not measured in greatness or accomplishments but rather in servanthood, suffering, and self-emptying. This Sunday, Rev. Genesis Tan urges us to be “fools” for Christ through humility and lowliness. Don’t let pride and arrogance sow division and disputes within the church.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share how you usually respond to suffering and hardship in your life. How do you view these experiences in light of your faith? Do you find it difficult to endure them with grace and trust in God’s sovereignty?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. What does Paul’s metaphor of believers becoming a show (v.9) reveal about the Christian life? How does this impact your understanding of a Christian’s purpose and influence?
– How did the apostles act when they were mistreated (vv.12-13)? Search for more Scripture passages that show and support what the proper response is.
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– Do you find it challenging to embrace a mindset of being a “fool for Christ,” prioritizing humility and lowliness over personal ambition or recognition? What do you think is the root cause of this?
– Reflect: How is God calling you to empty yourself? What may be blocking or holding you back from doing so?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– How can you actively embrace servanthood in your daily life, following the example of Christ? What practical steps can you take to prioritize humility and lowliness in your attitude and interactions with others?
– In what specific ways is God asking you to die to yourself and live for Christ? Is He inviting you to surrender your time, money, and resources? To give up your comfort, goals, and dreams?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Pause to offer God heartfelt praise and thanksgiving. Take the time to be in awe of His wisdom and grace as revealed through today’s message of being fools for Christ. Thank Him for the reminder that true greatness is found in humility and servanthood, following the example set by His Son, Jesus Christ. Praise Him for the privilege of being called His child, even though it means embracing suffering and surrendering your own desires for His glory. Ask God to help you to continually live out this truth in your daily life, always seeking to honor Him above all else.
– Acknowledge the areas of your life where pride and selfish ambition have taken root. Ask for forgiveness for the times when you have sought personal success or recognition at the expense of embracing servanthood and humility. Repent for any reluctance to endure suffering for the sake of His kingdom, and for moments of resistance to surrendering your own will to His. Pray that God grants you the strength to let go of your own desires and to fully embrace His will for your life, trusting in His wisdom and goodness.
