建造屬靈的身份 Building Spiritual Identity

哥林多教會是一群長不大的嬰孩, 因為他們不認識他們屬靈的身份. 本週, 張國強牧師提醒我們在主裡有三種屬靈建造的身份與不同的使命讓我們在靈性上成熟.

The Corinthian church were but spiritual infants because they did not know their spiritual identity and God-given purpose. This week, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung urges us to find our true identity and purpose in the Lord, for it is this identity that will set us on the path to spiritual maturity.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Identify the instances you experienced being planted and watered. How did these people and situations contribute to your spiritual life? What can you observe was their part in your journey and what was God’s role?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. What was Paul teaching the Corinthians through what relationship the planter and waterer should have (v.8)? What does that teach you?
• What can you learn from the field illustration (vv.6-9) that can assure you whenever you evangelize or disciple someone? Is it considered a failure if you get rejected when sharing the Gospel or when your disciple is stubborn?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• Evaluate yourself: Do your building materials match your foundation? Why or why not? Which materials align and contribute to building a Christlike character? Which do not?
• How does understanding that you are a spiritual temple, with the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, impact your sense of purpose and identity? Are you evidently living as set apart?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• From what you have reflected on and identified above, in what specific ways can you replace the building materials in your life and live set apart as God’s temple? (These can be habits, relationships, activities, beliefs, attitudes, and priorities.)
• In your Life Group, family, or community, discuss how you can implement practical measures to maintain the holiness of the temple and keep each other accountable (e.g. intentional times of prayer, reflection, community engagement).

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Come before the Heavenly Father with a heart full of gratitude and praise. Thank Him for the seeds of the Gospel that have been planted in your life and for the mentors and leaders who have watered and nurtured your spiritual growth. Thank Him for the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit, causing you to grow and bear fruit in your journey with Him. Praise Him for being the Master Builder, laying a firm foundation in your life through the Truth of the Gospel and the Cross. Express your gratitude for the assurance that, as His temple, you are set apart as holy.
• Humbly acknowledge that there have been times when you have allowed desires other than His to influence the foundation of your life. Ask for forgiveness for the moments when you’ve built with materials that do not align with His Word and for the times you’ve faltered during tests instead of growing in maturity. Repent for any actions or choices that have compromised the holiness of the temple He dwells in. Ask God to help you be more intentional in your choices and to live in a way that truly reflects your identity as His holy temple. Pray that the Holy Spirit continues to guide you into a deeper understanding of His will and strengthen you to walk in obedience.
