  • For the married, what do you enjoy about being a husband/wife?
  • For the unmarried, what does a Biblical marriage look like to you?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Read the passage. According to the passage, what is the role of a wife?
  • What is the role of a husband?
  • What did you learn about Christ’s example of submission?
  • What did you learn about Christ’s example of unconditional love?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

  • For the married, what about your role do you find it easy or hard to obey God?
  • For the unmarried, how is your relationship with someone God has placed as authority in your family?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

  • For the married, what specific actions can you take to be more like the husband/wife that God has designed you to be? How are you going to do it?
  • For the unmarried, what specific actions of obedience can you take towards submission to God?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Thank God for Jesus’ model of submission to the Father and His sacrificial love at the cross for us.
  • Ask for God’s forgiveness during the times when we disobey and take His love for granted.
  • Ask for the Spirit’s power to help us submit to Christ’s headship and to the people He appointed as authority over us and for us to love like Christ.
