Use these questions to guide your life group discussions or personal reflections.

1. What are your worries and fears during this time?

2. Read vv.1-12. Declare your confidence in God. How did the psalmist have such conviction?

  • The psalmist knows who God is (vv.1-2). In what way does the psalmist know God? What do the names of God mean? How are these names of God relevant to you? How’s your intimacy with God?
  • The psalmist knows what God is able to do (vv.3-13). How do the metaphors describe God? Read Isa.49:14-16a, what is God’s promise to you? How did Satan use this psalm to tempt Jesus in Luke 4:9? What is the right understanding for this psalm? How did Jesus respond to Satan’s temptation? How is God’s ability to protect us revealed through Jesus?

3. Read vv.13-16. Delight in God and His promises. What are the promises God is giving in these verses? Why is God giving these promises? Reflect on “I will be with him in trouble”, what does this mean for you?

4. How can you demonstrate your faith during this time? In what way can God be your Source of security and confidence?
