Dust In The Wind

It’s too easy to become discouraged when life feels fleeting and futile. This Sunday, Ptr. Renz Raquion shows us through Psalm 39 that being honest with God about our weaknesses and sins will lead us to hope in Christ. Let us walk this road not as a people who are stranded or lost, but as sojourners on our way home.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
- If you could spend one more day with someone you deeply love, how would you choose to spend that day?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
- Read the psalm. Why did David remain silent at first, and what finally led him to speak to God instead of keeping everything inside?
- What does it mean to live as a sojourner? How does Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection give believers confidence on their journey home?
4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)
- What have you been keeping silent before God? What has kept you from honestly bringing your fears, disappointments, or struggles to Him?
- If you truly believed that your life is brief, what priorities, worries, or ambitions would you begin to hold more loosely?
5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)
- What is one temporary pursuit that has been consuming too much of your time or attention? How can you intentionally redirect that time toward something with eternal value?
- What is one practical way you can live more like a sojourner this week by investing in God’s kingdom, loving others, or growing in your walk with Christ?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
- Praise God because He is our unchanging hope in the midst of life’s brevity and uncertainty. Thank Him for patiently welcoming your honest prayers, using even His loving discipline to draw you closer to Himself, and sending Jesus, the ultimate Sojourner, who conquered sin and death so that you have an eternal home with Him.
- Confess the times you have lived as though this world were your permanent home, placed your hope in temporary things, or kept your burdens from God instead of bringing them to Him. Ask the Lord to forgive you, teach you to number your days wisely, loosen your grip on earthly pursuits, and help you live each day with your hope firmly anchored in Christ and His eternal kingdom.
