靈性抑鬱的困境 A Situation of Spiritual Depression

憂鬱症被稱為“無聲殺手”。對先知以利亞來說,憂鬱症幾乎摧毀了他的信仰和生命。本週,張國強牧師與我們分享靈性抑鬱的原因,以及如何得到靈性復興。

Depression is a “silent killer,” and for the prophet Elijah, despair nearly destroyed his life and extinguished his faith. This week, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung explains the causes of spiritual depression and shares how we can experience spiritual revival despite our struggles.

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the chapter. How did God minister to Elijah during his spiritual depression?
• What truths about God’s character and ways can you learn from Elijah’s experience?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• Have you ever felt too lonely, disappointed, afraid, or tired in your spiritual journey? How did you handle those emotions? How did God respond?
• Who are your spiritual companions? Have you been allowing them to keep you accountable through your spiritual journey? Why or why not?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• What practical steps can you take to ensure your physical and spiritual health are balanced?
• Who is God asking you to intentionally journey with as a spiritual companion so that they can avoid isolation?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise God for His tender care and faithfulness through life’s highs and lows. Thank Him for meeting our needs through rest, nourishment, and His abiding presence. Rejoice that He gently reconstructs our hearts and minds, reminding us that we are never alone and that His power is made perfect in our weakness.
• Repent for the times you have let fear, exhaustion, or disappointment overshadow your trust in God. Ask for forgiveness for forgetting His past faithfulness and relying on your own strength instead of seeking Him and the support of spiritual companions. Pray for the humility to embrace His counsel and face challenges with faith and courage.
