Our lives are determined not by our circumstances but rather by our choices. This week, Ptr. Genesis Tan urges us to emulate Josiah’s example by choosing to do what is right in the sight of the LORD and to walk in His ways.

Life Group Discussion Guide

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

  • Choose 2 LG members to share a devotion they recently had.
  • Share a recent encouragement you received from someone.

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Describe the background/circumstances of Josiah.
  • Read 2Chronicles 34:1-3. How did Josiah seek the Lord in his young age?
  • Read 2Chronicles 34:3-7. What did Josiah decide to do? How and why did he do it?
  • Read 2Chronicles 34:8. How did Josiah respond when they found God’s laws?
  • Did Josiah’s wholehearted devotion to God go to waste? How did God reward/honor Josiah’s humility and reverence to Him (2Chronicles 34:27-28)?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

  • How can you seek to please God? What are the idols in your heart that you need to get rid of?
  • How are you responding to the challenges you are facing? What kind of choices are you making? How is God present in the choices that you make?
  • Reflect: How do you respond to God’s word? Have you become numb?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

  • How can you overcome the idols in your heart?
  • How would you like to respond to God’s word today?

6. Engage God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Pray for each other’s needs and concerns. (10-15 minutes)
  • Pray for our country. (10-15 minutes)
    • God’s provision and wisdom for businesses affected by the pandemic.
    • Opportunities and provision for people who lost their jobs during this time.
    • Emotional and psychological support for families going through challenges
