Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share a time you had to let go of something comfortable in order to obey God or serve others. What happened?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. How does it reflect the rhythm of intimacy and mission in a believer’s life?
– What does Jesus’ instruction to “pack light” teach us about ministry and dependence on God?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– What are the comforts or “extra baggage” you tend to cling to that hinder full reliance on God?
– How do you normally respond when you’re rejected, ignored, or not appreciated while serving God? Is this aligned with how God wants you to respond?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– This week, how can you intentionally “come close” to Jesus, not just for comfort but for commissioning?
– What practical step will you take to stay faithful to the mission even when you don’t see immediate fruit?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise Jesus for drawing you near—not only to comfort you but to call you. Thank Him for His presence that both equips and sends, and for the freedom that comes in knowing that He works through your obedience, not your perfection. Rejoice that His mission is bigger than you and that He graciously provides everything you need for the journey.
– Repent for the times you have sought comfort over commission, stubbornly just staying in God’s presence without moving into His purpose. Ask forgiveness for carrying things He never asked you to bring—whether fear, control, self-sufficiency, or resentment. Pray that your heart would be soft to His sending and that you would walk forward in faith, even in uncertainty or rejection.
