Noong panahon ni Malachi, tinalikuran ng bansang Israel ang Diyos at pinagdudahan ang Kanyang pagmamahal dahil sa hirap ng kanilang kalagayan. Ngayong linggo, ipapakita sa atin ni Ptr. Mike Cariño na ang Diyos ay nananatiling tapat at nagmamahal sa kabila ng paglayo, pagkalimot, at pagtalikod ng mga tao. Tulad ng kanyang panawagan sa mga Israelites, tinatawag tayo ng Diyos ngayon na magbalik-loob sa Kanya—mahalin, galangin, sambahin at pagkatiwalaan Siya.
Even as Israel was on the cusp of receiving the Lord’s terrible judgment, Amos offers a glimmer of hope. Let us forsake the trappings of religiousness and instead seek the Creator and do what pleases Him, for therein lies our salvation.
The words of warning delivered by Amos in Chapter 4 verses 6 to 13 could very well have been directed to us who are alive today. Let us learn from the mistakes of Israel and devote our lives preparing for the Lord’s return.
