Living Together in Unity: Its Beauty, Benefit, and Blessing

Unity is rare in this divided world, and even churches know conflict. This Sunday, Rev. Michael Cariño reminds us that God delights in unity because it is pleasant in His eyes, promotes harmony among His people, and promises His favor. Let us work with God and with one another, so our church becomes a place where grace flows, people are refreshed, and the gospel is clearly seen.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
- What is one group, team, or community you’ve been/you are a part of where people really worked well together? What made the experience enjoyable?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
- Read the psalm. What do the images of precious oil and dew communicate about the value and impact of unity?
- What does the psalm teach us about how God views relationships within His people?
4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)
- What attitudes, assumptions, or personal preferences might be making it difficult for you to pursue unity with others?
- Is there someone you have been avoiding, withholding forgiveness from, or keeping at a distance? How is God inviting you to examine your heart?
5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)
- How can you become someone who strengthens unity rather than contributing to gossip, division, misunderstanding, or factions?
- What is one way you can intentionally build deeper relationships with other believers rather than simply attending church alongside them?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
- Praise our Almighty God for the gift of His people and for the goodness, beauty, and blessing of living together in unity. Praise God that through Christ, He has brought us into one family and calls us to reflect His love through our relationships with one another.
- Repent for the ways you have contributed to division, held on to resentment, prioritized your own preferences, or neglected relationships within God’s family. Ask for forgiveness and pray that you may become a humble peacemaker who actively pursues unity, reconciliation, and love.
