From the Heavens to My Heart

From the Heavens to My Heart

God reveals Himself to us through His creation and His Word, calling every heart to see, hear, and respond. This Sunday, Rev. Jared Co invites us to behold God’s great creation, be revived by His Word, and be more intentional in pursuing Him.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

  • Share an experience with nature that made you stop, appreciate, or feel amazed at who God is. Which specific character and attribute stood out to you through that experience?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Read the psalm. Why is creation not enough for us to know God personally? What does Scripture reveal that creation cannot?
  • What are some of the benefits of God’s Word? Why can obedience to God’s Word ultimately lead to life, wisdom, and happiness? Try to explain your response like you’re speaking to an unbeliever.

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

  • How do you currently view God’s Word: as a list of demands, or as something precious and delightful that leads to life? What might your attitude reveal about your heart?
  • When God’s Word exposes something wrong in your life, is your first response to pray for God’s help, or to try harder to fix yourself? Where is this rooted?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

  • What practical step can you take this week to spend more intentional time reading and responding to God’s Word?
  • What specific sin, struggle, or area of weakness do you need to bring honestly before God in prayer and obedience this week?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Praise our Almighty God for revealing Himself through the heavens and creation and, even more personally, through His Word. Thank Him that the Creator is also our gracious Redeemer, and praise Jesus Christ for doing what we could never do for ourselves. Rejoice that through Christ, we can approach God, receive forgiveness, and obey His Word with a new heart.
  • Repent for relying on your own strength instead of coming to God in prayer when His Word exposes your sin and weakness. Ask the Lord to forgive you for treating His Word as a burden rather than a delight, and pray that you may trust Jesus more deeply as your Redeemer so that you can obey God with a willing and transformed heart.
