權利與自由 Rights and Freedom

我們是否因行使食物、飲料和休閒活動的權利而在不知不覺中導致我們的信徒同工跌倒?本週,張國強牧師告誡我們,當我們行使各種權利和自由時,要仔細考慮如何影響他人。

Do we unknowingly cause our fellow believers to stumble when we exercise our right to eat, drink, and engage in leisure activities? This week, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung urges us to be considerate of our impact on others when we exercise our various rights and freedoms.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Share a time when you prioritized knowledge over love. How did that affect your relationship with others and with God?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. What distinguishes knowledge and love? (vv.1-3) What are the potential consequences of possessing knowledge without love?
• If a fellow believer tells you, “My practice is not sinful. If this other believer sins as a result, that’s his problem.” Is his view biblical? How would you respond?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• How often do you consider the impact of your actions on those with a weaker faith? What areas do you need to be more considerate of others’ spiritual journeys?
• What freedoms or rights do you hold that might cause others to stumble? What encourages and hinders you from giving them up for the sake of others’ spiritual well-being?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• What practical steps can you take this week to ensure that your use of knowledge is coupled with love?
• Identify a way you can support a weaker or younger believer in your community. How can you use your freedom responsibly to build them up rather than cause them to stumble?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise God for the wisdom and understanding He provides through His Word. Thank Him for revealing to us the importance of using our knowledge in love and for showing us that true freedom in Christ considers the well-being of others. Express your gratitude for the constant guidance and for the intimate relationship we can have with Him, where He reveals deeper Truths to us.
• Ask for forgiveness for the times you have allowed your knowledge to lead to arrogance and have failed to act in love. Repent for any instance where you have caused weaker believers to stumble by not being considerate of their faith journey. Ask God to give you the strength to willingly give up your rights and freedoms when necessary, so that you do not sin against Christ or hinder the spiritual growth of others.
