1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Share your understanding of what love is. What do you think contributed to this definition?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read Numbers 21:4-9. In what ways does Jesus’ reference to Moses and the serpent (John 3:14-15) illustrate the necessity of solely looking to Him for spiritual redemption and salvation? What is the theological significance of God offering salvation as a free gift, through faith, rather than through our own efforts?
• Skim through the entire book of Hosea. How does the narrative of Hosea reflect God’s unconditional love for humanity? How does this love challenge society’s concept of love?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• Be honest: As you reflect on the depth of Jesus’ sacrifice, do you feel that you are deeply loved and valued by God? Why or why not? Does your answer align with what the Bible says about who you are now in Christ?
• Evaluate yourself: Since receiving the free gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus, how has this gift impacted your daily decisions and outlook in life?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• What practical steps can you take to deepen your understanding and acceptance of God’s love in your own life?
• Are there areas in your life where you struggle to fully trust in God’s provision and forgiveness? How can you surrender those areas to him?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise the Heavenly Father for the immeasurable love He has shown us through the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. Thank Him for revealing to us the depth of His love through the Scriptures and for inviting us into relationship with Him. Express your gratitude for the assurance of eternal life that comes through believing in Jesus and for the transformational power of His love in our lives.
• Humbly approach the Lord and acknowledge your tendency to rely on your own efforts and understanding rather than fully trusting in His love and provision. Ask for forgiveness for the times when you have doubted His goodness and hesitated to accept His unconditional love. Ask God to help you surrender your pride and self-reliance, and to grant you the courage to fully embrace the truth of His love for us. Pray that as you live by the Spirit, that you walk by the Spirit as well and turn away from any thoughts or actions that hinder your relationship with Him.
