Courage to Face Lions

In living our Christian lives, we inevitably need courage to face persecutions and trials on account of faith. This week, Ptr. Jared Co looks into the story of Daniel in the Lion’s Den to show us why courage is needed, where courage is forged, and when courage is tested.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

  • Share a time when you felt afraid.

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Read the passage. Describe Daniel’s response to the situation he faced.
  • What about Daniel that you want to imitate?
  • In what way is Daniel a foreshadow of Christ?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

  • Identify a “lion’s den” in your life right now where your faith is being stretched. What is it like for you?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

  • Knowing God is with you in the “lion’s den”, what specific actions can you do differently as you go through the situation?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Thank God for being with us through situations when faith is being stretched; and for Jesus who went through the “lion’s den” of death for us to bring us back to God.
  • Ask God for strength when we struggle in our faith and His enabling for us to stand firm especially when we face opposition as we follow Christ.
  • Pray for each other’s concerns.
