The Blessed Way

Blessedness is found, not by chance, but by choosing to walk in God’s Word. This Sunday, Rev. Jared Co shows us how to meditate deeply on Psalm 1 and discover the blessed way of life, for those who delight in God’s Word will flourish and bear fruit like a tree planted by streams of water.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
- Share a habit or routine that has helped you stay spiritually grounded during difficult seasons. How did you develop it?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
- Read the passage. What are the characteristics of the “blessed” person and the “wicked” person? Why are they compared not as a big and small tree, but between a tree and chaff?
- How does Jesus fulfill the picture of the truly blessed man in Psalm 1?
4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)
- In what ways have you experienced being more like chaff (focused on externals, approval, or temporary things) rather than being deeply rooted in God?
- When you read or hear God’s Word, do you approach it more with delight or with dread? Why do you think that is?
5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)
- What distractions, sinful patterns, or unhealthy influences keep you from intentionally meditating on God’s Word day and night? What practical step can you take this week to make meditating on God’s Word part of your daily rhythm?
- What specific influence, habit, or environment do you need to reject, flee, or limit so that sin will not slowly take root in your life?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
- Praise the Heavenly Father for showing us the blessed way through His Word and through Christ Jesus. Thank Him because His Word is not empty or burdensome, but life-giving, life-shaping, and life-sustaining. Rejoice that through Jesus Christ, we are no longer condemned by the Law but invited to delight in Him. Thank Him for being the steady stream that nourishes our souls, gives us strength in every season, and produces lasting fruit in our lives.
- Repent for the times you have neglected God’s Word or treated it as a duty instead of a delight. Ask forgiveness for allowing worldly influences, sinful habits, and distractions to shape your thinking more than God’s truth. Confess the ways you have relied on externals, self-effort, or temporary comforts instead of being deeply rooted in Christ. Pray that the Lord would renew your heart so that you may truly delight in Jesus and meditate on His Word day and night with love, humility, and obedience.
