When Jesus Disrupts You
When Jesus cleansed the temple, He challenged the authority of the religious leaders, prompting them to question the source of His authority. This Sunday, Rev. Jared Co reminds us that God allows disruption in our lives when we stray from His will. Will we respond by resisting this disruption or will we choose to repent and place our trust in our Cornerstone?

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share a time when your plans were unexpectedly interrupted. How did you initially respond (e.g., resistance, frustration, or openness)?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. Why did the religious leaders question Jesus’ authority? What was their deeper motivation behind the question?
– What does it look like to play it safe and to stake it all on Christ?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– In what ways do you resist Jesus when He disrupts your plans, routines, or sense of control? What questions or doubts do you raise to protect yourself from change or surrender?
– What fears (e.g., rejection, loss, discomfort, or uncertainty) most often keep you from fully staking your life on Christ?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– What specific area of your life is Jesus currently disrupting? What would repentance and obedience in these areas look like?
– Who can walk with you and keep you accountable in embracing rejection or discomfort for the sake of following Jesus more faithfully?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise the Heavenly Father for His sovereign authority that is not threatened by our resistance, yet still patiently pursues our hearts. Thank Him for His shocking grace—that even when we reject Him, He sent His beloved Son as the ultimate expression of mercy and redemption. Give thanks that Jesus embraced rejection and became the Cornerstone, so that our lives can be rebuilt not on fear or self-protection, but on His unshakable grace and truth.
– Repent for the times you have resisted Jesus’ disruptions, questioned His authority to protect your comfort, and chosen to play it safe instead of trusting Him fully. Ask for forgiveness for fearing rejection more than you fear living apart from God’s will. Confess the ways you have accepted grace without allowing judgment against sin to truly change your heart. Pray for the humility to surrender control, embrace repentance, and allow Jesus to disrupt your life for true renewal.
