The Return of the King
The word “perplexing” accurately describes Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Why would a king use such humble elements during His arrival? This Sunday, Rev. Jared Co addresses these questions, revealing why Jesus is not the King we expected, but instead is the King we truly need.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– At the start of a new season or year, what do you usually inspect first—your plans, your problems, or your heart? Why do you think that is?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. What does Jesus’ choice to enter Jerusalem on a colt reveal about the kind of king He is? How does this challenge common ideas of power and leadership?
– Why does Jesus accept the crowd’s messianic cheers even though He knows their expectations are incomplete? What deeper longings is He actually fulfilling?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– What expectations have you brought into this year that may be shallow compared to the deeper longings Jesus wants to fulfill?
– If your life were a “temple inspection,” what do you sense Jesus would lovingly confront or reorder in your heart today?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– What specific area of your life are you still keeping partially uncommitted to Jesus? What step can you take this week to surrender it fully?
– How can you intentionally make space this year for Jesus to not just be celebrated, but be truly crowned in your daily decisions, rhythms, and priorities?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise Jesus as the humble yet powerful King who fulfills beyond our expectations and our deepest longings. Thank Him for entering our lives in grace, becoming the Lamb so that His glory could dwell in our hearts.
– Confess the ways you have cheered for Jesus without fully crowning Him, trusting your own plans more than His kingship. Ask for forgiveness for partial obedience and pray for a heart that gladly surrenders everything to Him.
