登山變像的主 Lord of the Transfiguration

Jesus knew that the faith of His disciples would be strengthened when they witnessed His Transfiguration. This Sunday, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung shares what God revealed during this event, and how the Transfiguration became a source of strength and hope for the disciples during Jesus’ suffering and death.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Describe a moment when obeying God’s Word felt difficult at first but led to unexpected joy or peace.
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. Why did Jesus reveal His glory to Peter, James, and John at this particular moment in His ministry?
• What is the significance of Moses and Elijah appearing with Jesus? What does it tell you about who Jesus is?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• When you picture Jesus as your Savior, what do you believe He is saving you from, and how do you imagine Him doing it? Does your view of His salvation align with the humble, suffering servant revealed in Scripture, or is it closer to the Israelites’ expectation of a political ruler who would rescue them from earthly struggles?
• In what areas of your life do you find it hard to trust that it is in God’s way of humility and sacrifice that leads to true glory?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• How can you remind yourself daily that Jesus’ glory is revealed not only in power but also in His humility and sacrifice?
• What specific step can you take this week to obey God’s Word even when it is costly or inconvenient?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise the Heavenly Father for revealing the glory of Christ on the mountain, assuring us that Jesus is not only the Son of God but also the Savior who leads us out of sin and death. Thank Him for giving us hope and courage through this glimpse of Jesus’ true nature—glorious yet humble and obedient. Rejoice that His plan of salvation is unchanging and complete in Christ.
• Repent for the times you have sought a “glorious” Christ who would simply fix your problems or meet your expectations rather than embracing Him as the obedient and redemptive Savior. Ask for forgiveness for resisting His call to humility, obedience, and trust in His perfect plan. Pray for a heart that delights in His ways even when they lead through suffering before glory.
