1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• What’s one name or characteristic of Jesus (e.g., Good Shepherd, Redeemer, King, Friend) that has been most meaningful to you recently? Why?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. Why is it important to understand that Jesus is not just a good teacher or prophet, but the Christ, the Messiah, and Redeemer?
• How does Jesus fulfill the roles of Prophet, Priest, and King? Identify Bible passages that further expound on His roles.
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• What kinds of expectations have you placed on Jesus and experienced disappointed when He didn’t meet them? How did that shape your faith?
• Which aspect of Jesus (i.e., Prophet, Priest, King, Redeemer) do you find hardest and easiest to embrace in your personal walk with Him? Why?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• What practical step can you take this week to grow in your personal, intimate knowledge of Jesus, beyond what you hear others say about Him?
• Who in your circle of influence (family, friends, work/school, hobbies) needs to hear about Jesus as Savior? How will you reach out to them this week?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise the Heavenly Father for revealing Himself to us through Christ Jesus, the Messiah, our Prophet, Priest, King, and Redeemer. Thank Him that in Jesus, we see the fullness of God’s love, authority, and mercy. Rejoice that He has given us eternal life by allowing us to know Him, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom He has sent.
• Repent for the times you have treated Jesus as less than who He truly is—reducing Him to just a helper, teacher, or problem-solver. Ask for forgiveness for placing your own expectations above His truth, and for failing to honor Jesus as Messiah and Lord. Pray that your shallow views may be transformed and that you may embrace the fullness of who Jesus is in your heart and life.
