The Unseen Danger

False beliefs are an unseen danger that can lead us to stray from the Lord and our faith. This Sunday, Pastor Jared Co highlights the insidious nature of these dangers and shows us how we can be made pure and remain focused on Christ.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share a time when something small and unseen (like a bad habit, thought, or influence) ended up affecting you in a big way. What made you realize that it was the source?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. What does the “yeast of the Pharisees and Herod” represent, and why is it so dangerous?
– Why did Jesus remind the disciples of the feeding miracles, and what lesson was He pointing them to?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– Do your outward actions for God and inward trust in God align? What encourages and hinders you from doing so?
– How has mistrust, whether obvious or hidden, eaten away at your sweetness or joy in the Lord?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– What is one hidden “yeast” (habit, thought, or influence) you need to ask God to reveal and remove this week?
– How can you intentionally practice gratitude for God’s goodness and daily provisions, beyond just saying grace before meals?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise the Heavenly Father for His constant goodness and provision, both in daily bread and in giving us Jesus, the true Bread of Life. Thank Him for the miracles He has already done in our lives and for the grace that sustains us every day. Rejoice that He not only meets our physical needs but fills our hearts with wonder, gratitude, and true worship.
– Repent for the ways you have let mistrust creep into your heart—whether through relying on your own performance like the Pharisees or through seeking worldly solutions like Herod. Ask forgiveness for hearing God’s Word but thinking only of yourself. Pray that God would expose and remove any unseen yeast in your life, replacing it with deep trust, gratitude, and love for Him.
