Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share a time when you felt like the world defined you by your status. How did it affect how you viewed yourself? What helped you overcome it?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. How did Jairus’s and the Bleeding Woman’s social status shape the way they approached Jesus?
– Beyond their initial expressions of faith, what deeper invitation did Jesus extend to both Jairus and the Bleeding Woman?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– Do you identify more with Jairus (struggling to let go of control) or with the Bleeding Woman (struggling to believe you have the right to come to Jesus)? Why?
– In what ways have you let the world’s view of your status (high or low) shape how you approach Jesus? How does Jesus’ invitation to deeper faith challenge the way you see yourself in His eyes?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– How can you practice responding in deeper faith—trusting Jesus’ invitation to surrender control (like Jairus) or to be seen and heard (like the Bleeding Woman)?
– Who in your life might need encouragement to see themselves through Jesus’ eyes rather than the world’s? How can you help them?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise Jesus for being Someone Who looks beyond our social status and sees our true worth as a beloved child of God. Thank Him for inviting us into a deeper faith that transforms us from who the world says we are into who He calls us to be.
– Repent for the times you have allowed the world’s view of your status or self-worth to shape your approach to Jesus. Ask His forgiveness for relying too much on your own influence, good works, or power, or for believing you are too unworthy to come to Him. Pray that He would help you surrender control and embrace your identity as His beloved child.
