1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Share a big interruption that happened in your life recently. How did you handle it? How did it impact you emotionally and spiritually?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. What are the key differences between Jairus’s faith and the faith of the woman who had been bleeding for 12 years?
• How does Jesus purposefully grow Jairus’s faith through the events in this passage?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• What are the current interruptions or delays in your life that test your faith? How do you respond when Jesus doesn’t immediately answer your prayers to overcome or remove them?
• How does Jesus’ compassion toward the unclean woman challenge your own perspective toward people whom society might consider “unclean” or “undeserving”?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• How can you practically choose to “not be afraid, but just believe” in a current situation that feels hopeless to you?
• When you face desperate situations, do you find yourself more like Jairus (limited and wavered in faith) or like the woman (believed boldly)? Why? What steps can you take this week to strengthen your faith in Jesus’ sovereignty, especially when circumstances seem final or irreversible?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise the Lord Jesus for His sovereign power over every situation in our lives, even the ones that seem hopeless or final. Thank Him for His compassion, for teaching us through interruptions, and for showing us that His grace is greater than any limitations of our faith.
• Repent for the times you have allowed fear to overshadow your trust in Jesus. Ask for forgiveness for limiting His power by focusing on human impossibilities rather than His sovereignty. Pray that you would grow in faith like Jairus and the woman, believing that Jesus’ word is enough even in the face of death.
