能平靜你心裡風浪的主 The Lord Who Calms the Storm of Your Heart

Following Jesus does not mean we are exempt from life’s storms. Just as the disciples encountered storms while following the Lord, we too will face difficulties. This Sunday, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung encourages us to deepen our knowledge and understanding of the Lord by learning to trust in the One who can calm the storms of our hearts.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Share a time when you were caught off guard by a sudden crisis or unexpected situation. How did you respond? What happened?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. What do the disciples’ reactions in the storm reveal about their understanding of who Jesus was at that time?
• Why did Jesus rebuke the wind and not the disciples directly? What does this show about His priorities and power?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• In moments of crisis, what does your first response (thoughts, feelings, and actions) reveal about your view of Jesus’ presence and power?
• What fear or storm in your life right now might be revealing a deeper need to truly know and trust Jesus as your Lord?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• The wind and the waves obey God’s word—do you obey His word? How can you intentionally grow in obedience to Jesus, especially in times when you feel anxious or out of control?
• What step can you take this week to deepen your faith in Jesus, not just in knowledge, but in lived-out trust?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise the Lord for His absolute power over nature, fear, and every storm in our hearts. Thank Him for being both fully human and fully God, a Savior who sleeps in peace and stands in authority. Rejoice that He is with you in every storm—calming the sea, calming your heart, and revealing His divine identity through even the most difficult situations.
• Repent for the times you have doubted the Lord’s presence or questioned His care when life felt overwhelming. Ask forgiveness for reacting out of fear instead of faith, for allowing your emotions to rule your heart rather than trusting His Word. Pray that you may grow in knowing Jesus not just as miracle-worker, but as the Lord who rules over every storm—inside and out.
