Binding Shame
Jesus was accused of being either insane or demon-possessed due to His remarkable acts during His ministry. This week, Ptr. Isaac Cheung shares how Jesus defended Himself against these charges by demonstrating His true power to liberate His people from the bondage of sin and shame.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share one expectation—cultural, academic/career, or family—that still feels “heavy” on your shoulders today.
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Identify ways that the honor-shame society can impact a Christian.
– Read the passage. How does it redefine true family and true honor (vv. 33‑35)?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– Which voice speaks louder in your head right now—culture’s demand for success or Christ’s declaration that you are already free and honored? Why so?
– Where do you still fear bringing shame on yourself or your family if you fully obey God? How do you respond when people label radical obedience as “crazy,” “irresponsible,” or “fanatical”?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– This week, what concrete step can you take to resist a cultural or family expectation that clashes with God’s will?
– How will you openly honor Christ—at work, school, or home—even if others misunderstand or disapprove?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise our Heavenly Father for sending Jesus, the Stronger Man, who has bound the enemy and rescued us from the kingdom of shame. Thank Him for exchanging our dishonor for the honor of belonging to His family through the cross. Rejoice that we now live under His liberating rule, free to put Him first and to walk in the dignity He gives.
– Repent for the times you allowed fear of shame or human expectations to silence your obedience to God. Confess where you sought honor from people rather than from Christ, and ask the Spirit to deepen your trust in the Stronger Man who already carried our shame on the cross.
