Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share a time you received good news and it completely changed your mood or outlook on a situation. Why did it have that effect? How does your reaction to that good news compare to when you first heard/understood the gospel?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. What is the central point of the gospel? What is left of the gospel without Christ’s resurrection?
– List other passages about Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. Why are these events important?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– How does the promise of resurrection in Christ impact your view of death, life’s purpose, and eternity? Does it fill you with hope, or are there lingering fears or doubts?
– Have you taken the historical fact that Jesus died and resurrected for granted? Are there areas in your heart where you need to warm back to life or rediscover the joy of this good news?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– What practical steps can you take this week to examine the resurrection more deeply, whether through study, reflection, or conversation, to strengthen your faith and better engage with skeptics?
– In light of Paul’s example of hard work fueled by grace (vv.9-11), how can you respond to the good news of the resurrection by serving God and others more wholeheartedly?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise the Lord for the victory over sin and death that was accomplished through Jesus’ resurrection. Thank Him for the hope of eternal life and the new creation we have become through His grace. Rejoice that we are no longer bound by sin, and Satan no longer has power over us because Jesus has risen, just as He said He would. Celebrate that this gospel truth is not just a story but a living reality—a historical fact witnessed by many and testified through the power of the Holy Spirit.
– Repent for the times when you have doubted the power of Jesus’ resurrection in your life, relying on your own strength instead of His grace. Ask for forgiveness for the moments when you have not lived as a new creation, holding on to old sins and allowing them to dictate your actions. Pray for the strength to fully embrace the power of Christ’s resurrection, trusting that His victory is complete, and that through Him, you are made new.
