Our Cruciform Destiny
Our Christian growth starts and ends with the cross because we receive the power and wisdom of God through Christ. This week, Ptr. Isaac Cheung urges us to keep imitating Christ and those who have matured by abiding in Him so we can live out the Gospel through our cruciform destiny.

– Read through chapters 1 to 4 with the lens of Paul’s inviting all Christians to live out their cruciform destiny. Identify specific passages that support this key message.
– What does it mean for Christianity to be described as a reality to experience rather than a problem to solve? Are there parts of the faith that seem beyond rationality to you that might be tempting to find solutions/answers to?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– Examine yourself: Do you perceive the Christian life with a cruciform worldview rather than a triumphalistic one? What factors encourage or hinder you from doing so?
– In what ways do you struggle with the concept of imitating Christ’s suffering and carrying your own cross in your daily life? Does your understanding of Christianity’s invitation to suffer alongside God challenge or deepen your faith?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– Which particular habits, attitudes, or areas of your life do you need to crucify and surrender control so you can better live out your cruciform destiny? Identify steps you will be taking starting this week and people who can keep you accountable.
– What specific attitudes or disciplines can you adopt to more intentionally imitate Christ in His suffering and sacrificial love, especially when faced with challenges or opposition? Specify how you can adopt them.
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise God for unveiling the beauty of our cruciform destiny, showing us the depth of His sacrificial love demonstrated through Christ on the cross. Thank Him for the privilege of embracing this transformative journey, where weakness is turned to strength, and suffering leads to new life in Him. praise Him for His wisdom and power displayed in the Gospel message, which reshapes our worldview and empowers us to live in alignment with His will.
– Humbly acknowledge your tendency to stray from the path of the cross and to embrace worldly values of triumphalism and self-sufficiency. Ask God for forgiveness for the times you have failed to imitate Christ in His suffering and sacrificial love, choosing instead to prioritize your own comfort and ambitions. Pray for God to grant you the grace to repent of your pride and arrogance, and to surrender afresh to His transformative work in your life. Ask God to help you die to your own desires and ambitions, so that Christ may live and reign in you.
