留下樹樁 – 謙卑的醒悟 Leave the Tree Stump – A Humbling Realization

King Nebuchadnezzar ruled with pride and arrogance. But in witnessing God’s mighty hand, he eventually realized that God alone is the true source of power, righteousness, and justice. This week, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung urges us to ask and examine ourselves: “Like Nebuchadnezzar, are we in need of God’s humbling and awakening?”

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

  • Share 1-2 things you want to praise God for right now.

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Read the passage. What is the dream about?
  • Describe the king’s attitude and his responses to God. In what way do you resonate with him?
  • What can we learn from Daniel’s example?
  • What did you learn about God?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

  • How is Daniel’s advice to King Nebuchadnezzar applicable to you right now?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

  • Learning about God and about yourself, how does this change how you approach God?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Thank God for all the blessings that He has given us and for His mercy by giving us chances to repent.
  • Ask God to search our hearts for us to see our weaknesses and pridefulness. Ask God for forgiveness for times when we make ourselves higher than Him and for wanting to take control of our lives.
