Candidacy period for our first batch of elders is until December 25, 2021

Under our new church bylaws, the 2021 candidacy period for the selection of the Christian Bible Church of the Philippines’ first batch of church elders will be open from December 5 to 25, 2021. This is a time for church members to evaluate and give feedback regarding any issues about the candidates.

Selection and qualification

The selection and qualifications of the Elders are modeled after the instructions of the Apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 3:2-7:

“Now the overseer (Elder) is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.”

For any objections

Objections to any of the candidates should be submitted in written form; stating facts and reasons why he is not qualified to serve as an Elder.

These will be carefully reviewed by the church Pastoral Committee and should the Committee find the objections valid, the candidate in question will be disqualified from serving as an Elder.

If no objections will be received

These five candidates will be ordained as Elders during our Online Worship Services on January 2, 2022.
