Bitter or Better?

Keeping a proper perspective on God is the best way to endure and find meaning in suffering. This week, Ptr. Michael Cariño says that Job’s story doesn’t help us understand the reasons for suffering. Instead, Job’s story invites us to trust that our wise, powerful, and just God knows exactly what he’s doing.

Life Group Discussion Questions

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

  • In what ways do we see God’s power?

3. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

  • For you, what does it mean that God is All-powerful?

4. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • How did God introduce Himself to Job? (Refer to 38:4, 38:8-11, 38:39-41, 40:24, 40:8-14, 41:10-11)
  • How did Job respond to God? (40:3-5)
  • What are the traits of the Behemoth (40:15-24) and the Leviathan (41:1-34). In what ways are our traits similar to these creatures?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

  • Knowing God’s power and knowing our traits, what is something that you want to surrender to God? How are you going to do it? (Turn this into prayer)

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Pray for each other’s needs and concerns. (10-15 minutes)
  • Pray for our church. (10-15 minutes)
    • Faithfulness to fulfill God’s vision and mission for CBCP even in this pandemic.
    • Wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit as we plan for 2022 while navigating a pandemic.
