禁食禱告神為何不聽? Why Won’t the Lord Listen Despite Our Prayer and Fasting?

禁食禱告不是向神要求的籌碼，神聽我們的禱告與我們的生命與生活有重要的關係，禱告的人是誰比他禱告的內容更重要。

Fasting and prayer are not bargaining chips. This week, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung reminds us that the way we live our lives has a direct bearing on whether or not God answers our prayers, for the Lord places more importance on the person who is praying than in the content of our prayers.

  • Follow up from previous week’s ‘Engage the Hands’: How was your attitude towards worship the past week?
  • What is your takeaway from the message?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Read the passage. What is God’s message through Zechariah?
  • How is this passage related to the previous passage (Zech. 7:1-7)?
  • What was the attitude of the Israelites’ ancestors towards worshipping God? What is God’s desire for us?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

  • What is God’s perspective towards living a double life? What does ‘double life’ mean for you? In what ways can we turn away from living a double life?
  • Reflect on v.12. In what ways does our heart become hard?
  • What are our common struggles in listening and obeying God’s word?
  • Read v.13. What does this verse mean to you?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

  • What specific actions can you take this coming week towards obedience to God’s word?

6. Engage God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Pray for each other’s needs and concerns. (10-15 minutes)
  • Pray for our country. (10-15 minutes)
    • Increasing COVID-19 cases in the Philippines
    • Vaccination program to be quick and free from corruption and politics.
