The Father Heart of God

Our Heavenly Father is the ultimate role model for Christian fathers. This Father’s Day, Ptr. Genesis Tan offers practical guidance for dads and reminds us that we must first return to our Heavenly Father if we are to fulfill our role as Christian parents, not just for our children but for the fatherless amongst us.

Life Group Discussion Guide

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

  • How has your father made an impact in your life?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Read the passage.
  • What are the roles of a godly father? (Identity, emotional security, affirmation, and authority)
  • How did God show this model?
  • According to Malachi 1:6 and 3:7, how can people return to God?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

  • In what ways is God similar/different to your earthly father?
  • What are the hurts/wounds you received? How do you deal with these wounds?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

  • How can you bring your wounds to God?
  • How can you return to God?

6. Engage God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Pray for each other’s needs and concerns. (10-15 minutes)
  • Pray for our country. (10-15 minutes)
    • For families to feel secured and to trust in the Lord through the everyday challenges
    • For the workers to have a sustainable livelihood
    • For the people who feel discouraged to find hope in Jesus and for believers to be God’s vessels to bring the Good News to people
