What Will You Do With Jesus?

Jesus remained silent during His trial, enduring false accusations and the crowd’s demand that He be traded for a convicted murderer. This Sunday, Rev. Jared Co shares how Jesus, in His humility, set aside His power as the King of Kings and bore the judgment and condemnation that each of us deserves.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
- Share a time you had to choose between doing what’s right and protecting your own comfort or reputation. What helped you make your decision?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
- Read the passage. What dilemma was Pilate facing when the crowd had to choose between Jesus and Barabbas? What does this show about trying to keep both Jesus and personal power?
- What are the key characteristics of Jesus’ kingdom? How are they different from worldly kingdoms?
4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)
- What situations do you usually try to have it both ways, wherein you follow Jesus while still holding on to control, comfort, or approval from others?
- When you think about sacrifice, submission, and service, what emotions or resistance rise in your heart? Where is this rooted?
5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)
- How can you remind yourself daily of Jesus’ substitution so that it fuels your willingness to lay down your life for others?
- Who is one person in your life right now that you can intentionally serve sacrificially, even if it costs you time, energy, or comfort?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
- Praise the Heavenly Father for sending Jesus, a King unlike any other—One who does not use His power to destroy but to save, forgive, and transform. Thank Him for the great exchange where Jesus took our place, bearing the punishment for our sins so that we could receive eternal life. Rejoice that because of His sacrifice, we now have both the motivation and the strength to live a life of surrender, service, and love for others.
- Repent for the times you have treated Jesus as just an option rather than your true King, choosing comfort, control, or approval over obedience to Him. Ask for forgiveness for trying to have it both ways, holding on to your own life instead of surrendering it fully. Pray that your heart would be softened and transformed by the truth of His substitution, so that you may willingly lay down your life in sacrifice, submission, and service, just as Jesus did for you.
