客西馬尼園的經歷 The Agony in Gethsemane
Jesus entered the Garden of Gethsemane, his heart filled with fear and deep anguish about facing the cross. As He prayerfully awaited the hour of His betrayal, He found steadfastness and courage, even though He faced this moment alone. This Sunday, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung explains what transpired in those moments in the garden that allowed the Savior to move from fear to resolve.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
- When you’re under pressure or stress, what is your usual response? Do you tend to face it, avoid it, or distract yourself? Share a recent experience.
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
- Read the passage. What is the key difference between Jesus’ response to the situation and the disciples’ response?
- What does Jesus pray for regarding the cup? How does He ultimately submit to the Father’s will?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
- When you face pressure or difficulty, do you tend to rely on God in prayer or on your own strength? Why?
- How do you usually respond when God’s will does not align with your desires? What areas in your life are you are resisting God’s will because it is difficult or uncomfortable?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
- How can you intentionally “stay awake” spiritually and not fall into complacency like the disciples? Is there a specific step can you take this week to grow in your prayer life, especially during times of pressure?
- What is one area of your life where you need to actively surrender your will to God this week? What will that look like in action?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
- Praise the Heavenly Father for the perfect example of obedience shown through Christ Jesus, who chose to follow His will even in the face of deep agony and suffering. Thank Him for His victory in prayer that led to our salvation, and for showing that true strength is found in surrendering to God’s will. Rejoice that because of Jesus’ faithfulness, we now have access to God and the grace to walk in obedience.
- Repent for the times you have relied on your own strength instead of seeking God in prayer, especially in moments of pressure and difficulty. Ask for forgiveness for the ways you have resisted God’s will or chosen comfort and ease over obedience. Pray that you may learn to surrender your desires fully to God, to remain spiritually alert, and to trust Him even when the path is hard.
