Be on Your Guard

Be on Your Guard

Given what we see in the news, many are asking whether the End Times are upon us. This Sunday, Rev. Jared Co reminds us that preparing for the End Times requires us to stay vigilant while holding on to our faith in Christ. Let us be on our guard.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

  • Share a season where something you depended on was suddenly shaken or removed. How did you respond?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Read the passage. Why does Jesus challenge the disciples’ confidence in the temple? What does this reveal about misplaced security?
  • What does Jesus teach about the nature of the future, especially regarding suffering, persecution, and endurance? What does this mean for us today?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

  • Where are you currently placing your security (e.g., career progression, ministry contribution, family closeness, reputation, health) rather than fully in Christ?
  • How do you respond when your plans are disrupted or when seasons turn out longer and harder than expected? Are your expectations of the Christian life shaped more by comfort and ease, or by readiness to endure hardship?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

  • What practical step can you take this week to shift your security from unstable, temporal foundations to Christ alone?
  • What habits can you build to strengthen your spiritual endurance (e.g., prayer, Scripture meditation, community accountability)?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Praise the Lord Jesus as your true and unshakable foundation. Thank Him that when earthly securities crumble, He remains steady and faithful. Rejoice that He does not leave you alone in suffering but promises the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to sustain you. Give thanks that in Christ, you have a future that is secure—not because of your strength, but because of His saving grace that carries you to the end.
  • Repent for placing your security in temporary and unstable things rather than in Christ alone. Ask for forgiveness for expecting an easy and comfortable future instead of preparing your heart to endure faithfully. Confess any hidden sin that you have minimized or ignored. Pray that the Lord would guard your mindset, deepen your endurance, and lead you to continually flee to Jesus as your refuge before the day of judgment comes.
