Marriage and Divorce
If God intended marriage as the lasting union of a man and a woman, why does divorce exist? This Sunday, Rev. Jared Co shares insights on how the world distorts marriage and how we, as disciples of Christ, should reaffirm our commitment to sanctify marriage according to God’s design.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– How does culture today influence the way people view marriage and divorce?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. What was God’s original design for marriage (vv.6-9)? How does this differ from how people in His time and ours tend to view marriage?
– How does seeing marriage as part of discipleship change the way you understand the purpose of marriage and the challenges that come with it?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– In what ways do you tend to look for “minimum compliance” rather than “maximum obedience” in your relationships?
– When marriage (or close relationships) becomes difficult, what does it reveal about your heart and your understanding of grace?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– What practical steps can you take to guard your heart from hardness or self-centeredness in relationships?
– If married: What’s one way you can actively pursue spiritual growth together this week?
– If single: How can you help and encourage a married couple in your circle to follow Christ more closely?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise the Heavenly Father for being the author and sustainer of marriage. Thank Him for designing it as a reflection of Christ’s covenant love for His Church—a love that never gives up, even when we are faithless. Rejoice that God Himself is deeply involved in our relationships, forming us through both joy and struggle so that we may reflect His steadfast love and faithfulness.
– Repent for the times you have treated relationships lightly or pursued your own comfort instead of God’s design. Ask for forgiveness for your hardness of heart—whether through pride, selfishness, or lack of faith—that keeps you from loving as Christ loves. Pray that God will soften your heart, restore your commitment to obey Him fully, and empower you to reflect His grace and truth in every relationship He entrusts to you.
