The Coming of the King
Like those who lived in the time of John the Baptist, Christians today anticipate the return of the King. Yet the question remains: are we truly ready for His arrival? This week, Pastor Nathan Tee calls us to embrace a life of repentance—one that acknowledges Christ’s transforming power and equips us to help others prepare for the Lord’s return.

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. How do the Old Testament prophecies connect to John the Baptist’s ministry and the coming of Jesus as the Messiah?
– What are the key differences between John’s baptism and the baptism Jesus brings? Why are these differences important?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– What specific old ways or habits is God asking you to turn away from as you live this new life in Christ? How are you responding?
– How do you view your unworthiness in light of Christ’s surpassing worth? Does it lead you to deeper repentance and gratitude? What encourages and hinders you from doing so?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– What concrete steps can you take this week to live a life of repentance?
– How can you intentionally point others to the worth of Christ through your words and actions this week?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise the Lord for His steadfast faithfulness in fulfilling His promises, even when His people rebel against Him. Praise Him for sending John the Baptist to prepare the way for Jesus Christ, the Coming King, who frees us from sin and calls us into new life with Him.
– Ask for forgiveness for failing to prepare your heart for the Lord’s coming—for clinging to old ways instead of turning to Him. Pray for a heart that recognizes your unworthiness and responds with genuine repentance and faith, proclaiming His surpassing worth in all areas of your life.
