Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Share a time when you felt emotionally overwhelmed, frustrated, or disillusioned, like Elijah. How did you process those feelings?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the chapter. How did God minister to Elijah during his spiritual depression?
• How does the story of Elijah illustrate that physical and emotional needs are interconnected with spiritual well-being?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• Be honest: Do you recognize the importance of caring for your physical health as part of your spiritual journey? How have you neglected this?
• How open are you to receiving correction and redirection from God’s Word, especially when burdened by despair?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• What practical steps can you take to prioritize physical rest and nourishment as part of seeking God?
• How can you make space to process your emotions with God and listen for His gentle whisper this week?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise God for being near to the brokenhearted and for His tender care in restoring us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Thank Him for knowing our frailty and ministering to us in ways we truly need. Rejoice in the hope of the cross, where Christ bore the full weight of our sin and despair, assuring us that nothing can separate us from His love.
• Repent for the times you have relied on your own strength, carrying burdens that God never intended for you to bear. Ask for forgiveness for failing to seek His Word and presence in moments of despair. Pray for the humility to trust His plans and for the faith to find rest and hope in His steadfast love.
