神的指頭 – 傲慢的滅亡 The Fingers of God – Pride’s Downfall

但以理書4-5章是講二個王故事, 第四章是講尼布甲尼撒王謙卑的悔改, 第五章是講伯沙撒王驕傲的滅亡。馬太23:12凡自高的必降為卑;自卑的必升為高。但以理書 4-5章就是最好的証明; 伯沙撒王自高, 結果被降為卑; 尼布甲尼撒王自卑, 結果被升為高。神的話安定在天永不改變, 我們要扎根在真理上。

Chapters 4 and 5 of Daniel tell stories of two kings and their contrasting reactions to the warnings of God. One humbled himself, while the other persisted in his pride. This week, listen to Rev. Jeremiah Cheung as he discusses the downfall of continuing a life of pride before God. “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

  • How have you experienced God’s grace the past week?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Read the passage. What sins did King Belshazzar commit? How did he defy God?
  • What did you learn from King Belshazzar?
  • What does this passage tell you about God? (Note to leaders: This is an opportunity to share the Gospel – God’s grace through Jesus)

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

  • In what way do you resonate with King Belshazzar?
  • What does it mean for you that God is righteous and gracious?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

  • Knowing God is righteous and gracious, what will you do differently this coming week?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Thank God for giving us opportunities to turn to Him.
  • Thank God that He is a God who is righteous and gracious; and for providing a way for us to be saved through Jesus.
  • Pray to have a softened heart to seek repentance from God instead of seeking to glorify ourself.
