Isaiah: Towards Courage

How do we gain the courage to go wherever God calls us? This week, Ptr. Jared Co enjoins us to open our eyes and see how we fit in God’s plan so we can be fearless like Isaiah.

Life Group Discussion Guide

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

  • Choose 2 LG members to share a devotion they recently had.
  • Share a situation when you felt fearful/lack of courage.

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

  • Who is Isaiah? What did Isaiah have to overcome?
  • Isaiah already knew about God’s holiness. What difference did it make for him to see and encounter God’s holiness?
  • Isaiah says, “I am a man of unclean lips.” What does this mean?
  • What mission did God have for Isaiah? How was Isaiah faithful to God’s commission?
  • How does God’s grace through Jesus bring you courage?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

  • What does it mean for you that God is a holy God?
  • Have you realized the greatness of God’s holiness? How about the enormity of your sins? How about God’s grace? Please share your reflection on this.
  • Reflect: Are you willing to let your sins be cleansed by God? Is there a sin you are holding on and are not willing to be cleansed by God?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

  • Is any service to God considered big or small? Is God telling you to serve Him in any way? How will you respond to it?
  • When faced with hardships in serving the Lord, how will you remain faithful and fearless?

6. Engage God in prayer (20-30 mins)

  • Pray for each other’s needs and concerns. (10-15 minutes)
  • Pray for our country. (10-15 minutes)
    • Safety and protection for frontliners, essential workers, and those who need to physically report for work.
    • House of Representatives currently deliberating and scrutinizing the Philippine Budget for 2021; for corruption to be avoided and funds appropriated wisely.
    • Government leaders to truly lead with integrity, love, justice, and righteousness.
