The Boat is Sinking
How do we view life’s trials? Are they challenges to avoid, obstacles to endure, or divine appointments from God? This Sunday, Pastor Renz Raquion encourages us to look beyond our difficulties and be still long enough to recognize Christ’s presence as He reveals His true nature through our trials.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share a time you felt like you were “sinking” despite faithfully following God’s direction. How did that experience affect your relationship with Him?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. Why is it significant that the storm happened even while the disciples were obeying Jesus’ command? In what ways does this passage challenge our typical assumptions about following Jesus?
– Jesus was able to sleep during the storm. What does this reveal about His nature and His relationship with the Father?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– How do you typically respond when God seems silent in the midst of your difficulty? What does that reveal about your trust in Him?
– Like the disciples, have you ever questioned God’s power and care during difficult times? What storms in your life have revealed deeper issues of fear, doubt, or control in your heart? How did you navigate them?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– What “storm” are you currently facing where you need to recognize Jesus’ presence and authority? What specific step can you take this week to invite Him into that situation?
– When you feel that God is silent, what Scripture passage or truth can you meditate on to remind yourself that “God’s silence is never abandonment”?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise the Lord for being the Sovereign Commander over every storm—seen and unseen. Thank Him that He is never absent, even in silence. Rejoice that He uses life’s trials not to destroy you but to reveal Himself more clearly, and to strengthen your faith. Celebrate His power, His peace, and His faithful presence through every wave that hits your life.
– Repent for the times you have doubted God’s heart, questioned His care, or believed that His silence meant He had left you. Ask forgiveness for trusting circumstances more than the Savior who controls them. Pray for a renewed faith that sees storms not just as problems to escape, but as divine appointments to know Christ more deeply.
