Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– What usually gets in the way of you showing love to others? How do you navigate and still choose to love in situations like that?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read today’s passage and the other passages in the message summary. Provide at least three more verses in the Bible that demonstrate Jesus’ radical love for us.
– How does Christian transformation differ from religious rituals and performance-based faith?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– In what ways have you noticed God’s love softening your heart or making you gentler in your interactions with others?
– How does understanding that Christ died for you while you were still a sinner change your perspective on loving those who are difficult or challenging to love?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– Share your progress from last week’s application. How can you more actively demonstrate selfless love in your relationships, especially with those who seem unlovable or difficult?
– How is God calling you to step out in love, even if it’s challenging or uncomfortable? How will you respond to this call?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise God for His radical love that transforms our hearts and lives. Thank Him for filling us with a love that is patient, kind, and selfless, a love that reflects His character. Express your gratitude that through Jesus, God has shown us what true love looks like—a love that emptied itself on the cross for us. Thank Him for adopting us as His children, and for the daily reminder that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Pray that you will be continually filled and overflow with His love, bringing honor to His Name.
– Come before the Lord repentance, acknowledging that your heart often seeks your own benefit and rely on your strength rather than resting in His transformative love. Ask for forgiveness for the times you have been self-seeking, impatient, and unkind, holding on to grudges and failing to love others as God has loved us. Pray that you would be able to overhaul the motivations that do not honor Him, and that you allow Him to transform you so that you may love others with the same grace and compassion that He has shown us.
