Holy Hats and Heavenly Hairdos
As we use our spiritual gifts during worship services to build up fellow believers and worship God, let us be mindful that God desires orderliness when we gather in worship. This week, Pastor Renz Raquion discusses the definition of worship and shares the dos and don’ts of public worship.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Share a time you had to overcome a distraction during a worship service to focus on God fully. What strategies did you use?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. What is it teaching? Should Christian women today wear head coverings in the church? Why or why not?
• What does it mean that God is the head of Christ, Christ is the head of man, and that man is the head of woman? Do you see this principle displayed in today’s context? Why or why not?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• In what ways have you allowed distractions in your appearance or behavior to hinder your worship or the worship of others?
• When have you observed (or even been part of) conflict in a church over what is appropriate and what is inappropriate in public worship? How do you determine what is appropriate in public worship?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• How will you ensure that your focus remains on God during public worship, keeping the main thing the main thing?
• What practical actions can you take to utilize your spiritual gifts more effectively in public worship, expressing greater honor to God and edifying fellow believers?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise God for the diverse spiritual gifts He has bestowed upon us, uniting us as a church to edify and strengthen one another. Thank Him for the privilege of coming together in public worship, where our gifts combine to advance His kingdom. Thank Him for the freedom and opportunities to serve and worship Him openly. Pray that you would always use your gifts to glorify His Name and build up the body of Christ.
• Come before the Lord in repentance for the times you have allowed your appearance, behavior, or distractions to hinder your worship and the worship of others. Pray that your behavior and thoughts in worship will bring honor to the Lord rather than dishonor. Ask God to open your eyes to all the ways in which you feel superior toward other believers in your church fellowship. Pray for your church, that all of you together will honor the Lord.
