A Singular Christian
Our culture often pressures us to rush headlong into marriage. This week, Ptr. Jared Co reminds us that while marriage is an important life decision, it serves a higher purpose for believers than merely fulfilling a transient worldly need.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share an experience where your life status (single, in a relationship, married) either helped or hindered your involvement in ministry. How did you address any challenges that arose? What was God teaching you at that moment?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. What is the “present distress/crisis” Paul is referring to (v.26)? Does that apply to believers today?
– How does the Bible’s view of marriage and singleness differ from your own view and society’s?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– Reflect on your own motives and attitudes toward obedience. Do you find joy and delight in obeying God, or do you do it out of obligation? What encourages and hinders you from joyfully obeying God?
– In what ways do you feel pressure regarding your life status? How can tying your heart to your future with God help relieve that pressure?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– What practical steps can you take to ensure that your primary goal in life is to glorify God in all that you do, and that Jesus is your ultimate source of fulfillment?
– Identify at least one way you can use your current life status to serve God more effectively and glorify Him. How will you start implementing this in your life this week?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise God for the infinite wisdom and guidance as revealed through His Word. Express your gratitude for the clarity and insight in today’s passage, which helps us understand the significance of our current status, whether married or unmarried. Thank God for reminding us that both singleness and marriage are His gifts, and that our ultimate fulfillment is found in our relationship with Christ. Pray that you continually see His blessings in your life and use them to glorify Him alone.
– Approach the Heavenly Father with repentance for the times you have placed fleeting worldly things above your commitment to Him. Ask for forgiveness for allowing your relationships, joys, and possessions distract you from your service to Him and your pursuit of holiness. Ask God for the wisdom and strength to realign your values and priorities according to His Word, seeing through the temporary nature of worldly matters and focusing on the eternal.
