Our Bodies as Instruments of Worship
Our bodies are owned by God and as members of Christ’s body, we must be careful with how we treat our bodies. This week, Ptr. Nathan Tee shares how we can be good stewards of our bodies and sanctify them as an act of worship to the Lord.
Read Today’s Scripture Passage
1 Corinthians 6:12-20
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share a time you did something because you could, but realized that you shouldn’t have. What happened? What did you learn from this experience?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Before hearing the message, what was your understanding of freedom (v.12)? Does this definition align with the Bible?
– Read the passage. How does knowing that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (v.19) affect your understanding of purity and intimacy?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– How does knowing that your body belongs to Christ resonate with your understanding of your identity and purpose?
– Reflect on your current habits and choices. Do they align with the idea of being set apart? Are you using your body to bring honor, glory, and worship to God? Why or why not?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– How can you practically implement the principle of fleeing from sexual immorality in your life? What specific boundaries or safeguards is God asking you to put in place?
– Since you are a member of Christ, how can you actively engage with the Christian community to encourage and support one another in living out and honoring God with our bodies?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Thank the Heavenly Father for revealing to us the sacred importance of honoring Him with our bodies. Express your gratitude for today’s reminder that our freedom in Christ is not a license for indulgence but an opportunity to glorify Him in every aspect of our lives. Praise Him for the gift of our bodies and the privilege of using them as vessels for His glory. Pray that your life would continually reflect the beauty of His holiness as you seek to honor Him with your thoughts, words, and actions.
– Humbly approach the Lord acknowledging your shortcomings and areas where you have failed to honor Him with your body. Ask for forgiveness for the times when you have allowed yourself to be mastered by worldly desires and passions, instead of surrendering to His will. Repent for any instances of sexual immorality or impurity that have defiled the temple of His Holy Spirit within you. Ask for the strength to flee from temptation and to walk in purity and righteousness, knowing that your body is precious in His sight.
