By Faith Alone
Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. This week, Ptr. Jared Co reminds us that we are justified by faith alone and not by our works. Let us reflect on this truth from the Gospel and be thankful for God’s grace.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
- Share an activity that you consider risky (e.g. skydiving, bungee jumping, etc.). What would make you do the activity?
- What are some characteristics of God?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
- Read the passage. What does the passage say about earning our salvation? What does it mean that our righteousness is by faith alone and in Christ alone?
- What was God’s promise to Abraham? How did He fulfill it?
- What is God’s part in the promise? What is Abraham’s part in the promise?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
- What difference does it make that salvation is not earned by doing God’s law (nor by circumcision) but through faith in Jesus?
- What about Abraham’s example would you like to follow?
- How would things be different if you had faith like Abraham?
- What would make you trust God more? (Note to leaders: Alternatively, you may also ask ‘what hinders you to trust God?’ You may refer to their answers in Engage with One Another about God’s characteristics. Be sensitive to listen to their hearts as they share.)
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
- In what area of your life do you need to trust God more? How will you do it? How can our group help you?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
- Thank God for His grace in saving us through Jesus and for not requiring us to fulfill the law to be accepted and made righteous. Thank God for securing our future through Jesus.
- Ask for God’s forgiveness for times when we lack faith in Him and for relying on ourselves more than Him.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to enable us to fully trust God with our salvation and not rely on ourselves.
